Since we moved in in April I have been trying to really make our house feel cosy and homey. I have found a couple of bits that really make a difference, especially now that we are going into autumn which is my favourite time of the year.
Fairy Lights: In my old bedroom, at my parents house, my bed was covered in fairy lights and I had fairy lights all over the wall directly next to my bed. Ever since we moved in, I kept saying how much I missed the lights, especially in the evenings, but I finally got around to putting up the fairy lights on the week and it has made such a difference. When it gets dark in the evenings, it is so nice to have the fairy lights on and read a book rather than have the main ceiling light on!
Plants: I LOVE house plants. I have to really restrain myself from buying new ones every time we do our weekly shop because the local supermarkets have loads at the moment! One of my favourites is this plant that came from our local garden centre. I did have this downstairs in the living room but I don’t think it was getting enough light so I have moved it upstairs onto our windowsill where it is a bit brighter!
Reed Diffusers: I really enjoy having reed diffusers dotted about the house. I have a couple that were house warming gifts and a few that I picked up in Sainsburys (Side note, Sainsbury’s Home section is a dream!). Instead of buying new ones each time they run out, I buy the bottles of refill liquid and it works out much cheaper. I have picked up quite a few from Dunelm and Sainsbury’s do refills for the scents that they sell.
Photos: Photos and artwork are something that I think can completely transform a room. Our bedroom was looking really empty and as soon as we hung these three pictures from Disenio it really made the room feel a bit more complete.
I really enjoy having photos all around the house of my favourite memories. In the office we have started a photo wall but there are so many more prints we want to hang up. All of the frames in the office are from Home Bargains as they are incredible value and look great. They come in a pack of (I believe) 8 that are different sizes which are great for a photo wall!
