Woooah.. It has been a while. Things seem so different from the last time I sat down to write a blog post. I don’t want to go on too much about the current situation because I think we all need a little bit of ‘normality’ right now, but I just want to say that I hope you are all keeping safe and are well!
I thought that I would reflect on the goals that I set for this year to see whether they have gone to plan. To recap, my goals for these three months were:
January: Keeping up my fitness levels and trying to go to the gym more often.
February: Organising and decluttering the house.
March: Getting better at tidying the house as I go and adding pieces of decor that I love into our home.
Looking at the goal for January, I did actually keep this up for most of the month. I started to go to the gym before work twice a week and was really enjoying it. Towards the end of January I had an appointment with a physiotherapist about some ongoing pain issues that I have been having and they decided that the gym was probably not the best place for me to be currently. Instead, I tried to keep up with stretching and doing my physio exercises, as well as walking pretty much daily, to keep my fitness up. It feels like a bit of a cop out as I probably could have pushed through, but it wasn’t doing me any favours in the long run. I would like to try and find a regular form of exercise that doesn’t aggravate my pain, so I will keep looking!
In February, I did declutter quite a few areas of our house but there is still a lot to do. We have been in the house for nearly a year now and there is still stuff that doesn’t have a place so that needs to change! I did reorganise my wardrobe and the airing cupboard to utilise space a little bit better in our bedroom storage. I also have plans to create a new dressing table and makeup storage set up but Kyran and his dad are creating the shelves for that, which has been put on hold for now. My aim for the next few weeks is to go through the kitchen cupboards and organise them because there is quite a lot of storage space that we aren’t using effectively.
Tidying was quite a big focus in March, even though I had forgotten that this was my goal for this month (ooops!). We had a big spring clean and did all of the jobs that we had been putting off. Since then, I have really been on top of keeping everywhere clean. I, of course, have those days where I let everything wait until the next day but I have got a LOT better! I have also been on the look out for a couple of decor bits to spruce up our home now that we have started decorating properly. We finally painted the living room (post coming soon!) and it’s so nice to put some extra finishing touches in.
It has actually been so useful to look back on these goals and reflect on what has worked and what maybe needs a bit more time and attention. I will try and do these every three months to keep myself on track. Especially with the current situation we are all in, I have really found comfort in having specific goals to keep in mind.
